Because of its low noise level (70 decibels), the CALIFORNIA AIR TOOLS SP-9421 Ultra Quiet & Oil-Free Air Compressor Pump/Motor is designed to be one of the quietest air compressor pumps/motors in the industry.
This is an extremely good compressor. It operates at a significantly lower noise level than my previous Craftsman compressor pump. When the old one would start, the garage would be filled with 90+ decibels of sound, and I would have to brace myself for the shock. This unit operates so quietly that it may turn on while I’m working with tools and I may not even notice; my reaction is more along the lines of “oh, look, the compressor is running. It produces a lot of pressure, runs quietly and quickly, and has no problems.
Additionally, their technical support is excellent. When the unit was delivered, the box had been damaged during shipping, resulting in one of the fan covers becoming cracked. I contacted California Air Tools, and they promptly and without hesitation sent me a replacement cover.
