The Water Containment Rings for Core Drilling are supplied in a two-piece set. The water containment suction ring is used to hold water while drilling holes in high gloss surfaces such as granite, marble, and other natural stone. When drilling with diamond core bits, water will act as a cooling and lubricating agent, thereby increasing the speed of the drill as well as the life of the core bits. The set includes a water ring with an inner diameter of 3″ for use with diamond core bits up to 3″ in diameter and an inner diameter of 1-1/2″ for use with diamond core drills up to 1-1/2″ in diameter.
It worked perfectly for drilling a hole through a granite countertop. I was installing a new faucet and had to cut a hole in our granite counter top to accommodate the installation. After watching a few YouTube videos, it appeared that wetting the drill bit would be the most effective way to keep it cool. The smaller containment ring worked perfectly in this situation. There were no difficulties cutting through the granite, and the new kitchen faucet looks fantastic. I would definitely recommend it.
