Makita is the manufacturer of all of my tools (at the very least cordless). After spending a week on the set of the first Godzilla movie with my stick battery 9Volt screw gun UNDERWATER, I became a believer in the monster. It continued to work for years after that, albeit with a rusted chuck. I upgraded to 18V tools and it was still running like a champ the following day. I’m not sure what has happened to the company recently, but I’m guessing that their manufacturing has moved to China, just like everyone else. This one has a cheap acrylic plastic blade removal guard that rotates to the side, allowing the blade to be easily removed. If your saw jumps or comes into contact with something, the blade will simply snap off, leaving the blade loose and floppy after it. This is a significant flaw in the tool, and it was disappointing to discover it.
