Because of how low the cutting disc can be lowered, I’m giving this a four-star rating. Because this is a screw-on cutting disc with a cupped edge, it slid below the guard on my angle grinder, which was something I hadn’t anticipated happening. Because the cuts were made within a shallow hole, I did not consider them to be a significant safety hazard. If you’re cutting in the open, make sure your angle grinder guard is covering the disc of the machine.
It cut through some steel posts as if they weren’t there, and I had no concerns that it would break or fail. The grinder I’m using has a 7-amp motor, so only a small amount of pressure was required when removing the posts. According to some YouTube videos, 1/16″ discs are recommended if the load on the grinder is likely to be too great for a 1/8″ disc such as this, so keep that in mind if you’re using a lower amp grinder like this.
Almost no wear was seen on the disc after cutting through four of the posts shown in the photo. A post took no more than 30 seconds (like butter). If your grinder’s guard is low enough to accommodate it, this is a good purchase.
