A Ryobi corded angle grinder that I had lying around unused was used to mount this piece of equipment. The arbor went on without a hitch, was easily tightened down, and the keys fit perfectly. That’s the good part, and it’s deserving of three stars on its own merits.

Despite having the clamping screw tightened down firmly where the grinder guard had been removed, the guard slips easily and will come into contact with the wheel if I give it enough of a bump. There is no way on earth that it would remain in place during actual use. The shoulder of the grinder has two rings with a groove between them, and the guard has three teeth that keep it aligned with the groove when the grinder is in use. Maybe I’ll try to dimple the sheet metal a little and see if I can get it to sit still, or maybe I’ll just bodge the grinder guard and the new guard together and see if that works. I won’t use it if I can’t get it to stay in place properly.

The third item is the wheel. The wheel and hub were delivered together, but they were not securely fastened. I put it on the arbor and as soon as I did, the hub came to a halt, allowing the rest of the wheel (which was made of orange abrasive fused to a white plastic tube) to continue sliding until it came up against the grinder. I sanded the two surfaces down with coarse sandpaper before gluing them together. We’ll see if they can keep it together in the morning.
