The AIRCAT line is the most important development in pneumatic power tools in more than 30 years. Our company was started in 1998, and our tool line has a lot less noise while still having a lot more power and torque. AIRCAT also has a patented ergonomically engineered handle design that helps the operator’s hands, wrists, and arms be less stressed and tired. AIRCAT has patented tuned exhaust muffler technology in most of its tools. This means that the air that is released doesn’t build up back pressure, which means that more power is kept and the noise level is significantly reduced.
People who make these tools say that they have 0.5 HP (1/2 Horsepower) in them. It’s very easy to do a search on the Aircat site and find out what it is. You don’t have to be fooled by this, like many air tools. This tool is a lot of work.
I was torn between this and the 6505, which is quiet, has a better trigger, but can’t be turned around. So, I decided that reversing would be more important. Occasionally, you need to protect something close by. Most of the time, I use that feature to keep sparks from flying in my face, or to keep my arm from getting burnt.
When I cut off some metal, I used the SAIT cut-off wheel I bought at the welding supply store. It was made in America and is very good. Check out a few at the store, then order a big box from Amazon. This is how it looked. The metal turned white-hot right away, and the end flew off. Then I did that a few more times. People who want to use this tool will need a good air system that can move freely. If you have a small compressor tank, you’ll have to wait for it to recharge a lot. It might be worth it to wait for a cheap $15 import tool, because this is more efficient with air. You can get a lot more cutting done between tank refills with this tool.
After eye protection, you’ll need hearing protection, as well. Not the loudest air tool I’ve ever used, but it’s loud and cutting metal isn’t a quiet job.
Do not use cheap cut-off wheels from other countries on this tool. It’s not a good idea to use these cheap wheels with high RPM cheap import cutting tools. People who use this kind of high-speed tool can get their faces smashed by a cheap wheel. It’s best to get a good wheel like 3M. SAIT. Pear. They also cut faster and last longer than cheap wheels.
