Because they were so thick, there was too much space. Afterward, I cut two 1-inch sections of vacuum tubing and slipped them over the straws. It still has room to move, but now you can be more precise with the blade as you cut.
All in all, it’s a very useful, well-made air tool that should last for a long time.
