The Baileigh TN-250 Tube Notcher is equipped with a self-centering radial vise that allows the operator to clamp down on tubes (and other materials) in any direction, including in the middle of a bend, without the need for additional tools. Another advantage of using a self-centering vice is that it is the only hole saw tubing notcher that is always centered from left to right as well as up and down, regardless of the size of the tube or pipe being used.
The backbone is constructed of heavy-duty 3/4-inch steel plate, and all of the components are designed to interlock to create a very rigid platform that reduces vibration and extends the life of the hole saws, among other benefits. The tube notcher’s shaft is a 1.25-inch Thompson shaft that rides in needle bearings that have been sealed and oiled before use. It differs from other tube notchers in this category in that the two ends of the shaft are completely interchangeable. This can help you save both time and money.
The tube notcher is capable of notching tubes with an outside diameter of up to 2.5 inches and allows for large degree angles. This allows the operator to enter the notch from the “back side” of the notch because the notching carriage can pivot up to 220 degrees. The use of a large degree plate aids in aligning the notches on the back side. In addition, the TN-250 has a fully adjustable axis that allows it to accommodate almost any notch configuration.

This tool performs admirably in most situations. My $300.00 purchase came apart after 50 cuts, and I had to throw it away. It received four stars because the part to which the drill is attached began to deteriorate immediately after being purchased. Aside from that, it appears to be in reasonable working order. I’m writing again after a five-month hiatus, and I’m using it once more. There is no reason why they would ruin their tool with a single faulty component. The part of the machine where the drill attaches is so soft that a pair of pliers will cut right through it when you try to remove it. It should have been constructed of drill steel or a material that was significantly harder than basic carbon steel.
