I gave it two stars in my first review, which you can read here. After speaking with the supplier, I’ve decided to give it four stars. L-Star provided excellent follow-up support via email, which was greatly appreciated. My problem had to do with the software driver that came with the CD that I had purchased. It was unable to properly install the driver, and I wanted to make certain that I would be able to obtain the drivers before I began assembling the CNC. When I tried to load the driver (CH340SER) on both my Windows 10 and Windows 7 computers, neither worked. My conclusion is that the CD was not properly created, and that this was the root cause. Upon contacting L-Star, they responded promptly and provided the Driver as well as step-by-step instructions on how to load the Driver on a Windows 10 PC. The assembly instructions are not very detailed, and you will need to refer to the YouTube link provided, which shows approximately 90 percent of the assembly where you can follow it, and if you are mechanically inclined, you should be able to figure out the missing steps. The YouTube link is provided for your convenience. Some of the bags of screws are labeled, but the majority of them are not, which makes it a little frustrating at first, but once you figure out which screw is which, you can follow along with the instructions in the video. The video does, however, identify each screw that was used, which is a significant plus. I would have given it five stars if the software had worked correctly from the beginning and if the screw bags had been clearly labeled. Because of these two issues, I give it a rating of 4 to 4.5 stars. In order to learn how to create your own custom designs, I would recommend that L-Star invest a little more time and effort in providing better documentation, as well as a link to the GRBLControl software user manual. Overall, it appears to be of high quality, and I anticipate it to perform admirably. In a couple of months, I’ll provide an update on the situation.
