It has a surprising amount of power for its size and weight. I was on the verge of purchasing the compact impact from Harbor Freight, but theirs had a really goofy forward/reverse switch that seemed to be in the wrong position. It has the forward and reverse selector buttons on the sides, which operate in the same direction as my DeWalt cordless drills and drivers, which I use frequently and have done so for years; I never have to look at the controls to determine whether I’m going forward or backward. I’m sure it won’t mean much to most people, but it’s something I enjoy hearing.
This gun has a surprising amount of power for its small size. In addition, I have the Northern Tools 1/2 “Composite impact, which is significantly heavier and larger in size but appears to have a similar amount of power. The Berkling gun will suffice for the vast majority of situations, and if I come across something particularly stubborn, I’ll simply bring out the big guns “impact force of 1700ft.lb with a 3/4” drive monste. The hog ring detent was a little stiff at first, making it a little difficult to snap the sockets into place, but it is becoming more flexible with use.
