More info about best bandsaw outfeed table

The outfeed table is attached using a “French cleat”, typically used for hanging cabinets without screwing into their backs. At the far end of the outfeed table I attached a leg using two hinges on the outfeed’s underside. If you’re using a shop-made bandsaw fence that clamps to the front and back of the saw’s table, you’ll have to modify it, so it clamps to the left hand side of the table.

If you do a lot of long rips, and especially resawing, consider putting a similar outfeed table on your bandsaw. The table is the same width as the bandsaw table, and it’s as long as the distance from the underside of the table to the floor, or really a hair under. The wooden spacer had to be just thick enough to put the top of the outfeed table at the same level as the top of the bandsaw table.

With less than 8″ of table behind the blade, most bandsaws lend little support to workpieces when ripping or resawing. This outfeed table provides another 18-1/2″ of support – a real boost to your comfort, confidence, and effectiveness when blade meets wood. Let it carry the load so you can concentrate on the task at hand.

I can place it next to the saw for cutting wide material, or behind the saw for outfeed on longer stock. For the record, I contacted admin to try to have this thread deleted, not only because it makes me look like an idiot, but I am finding stuff related to adding depth behind a band saw table. Any suggestions are welcome, of course, I hope get that and my table saw’s outfeed table done by fall, but there is info out there, so admin, feel free to take the post down.
