Im wondering if renting a pickup truck and then tilting the saw on its spine, sliding it into the bed and tying it down would be an OK option. 02-12-2005, 5:41 PM #5 Scott, as others have said, transporting it on it’s spine is the Best way, and Best for the Saw, as this is it’s strongest side and would eliminate any “Twisting” of the saw’s frame. The loading instructions of rolling it to the truck and then tipping it into the truck on it’s Spine with the top toward the cab of the truck is also correct.
Put the stand in last, the saw in first, that way you will have the stand ready to place the saw on when you get home. In the last year I purchases 2- 14″ Deltas and a 14″ Craftsman. Properly tied/ratcheted in place is the best way IMO. Laying down presents more of a problem in stopping which way it can move, and the possibility of it being jarred due to bumps.
IMO you could move the saw either lying on its spine or standing up. If you are moving yourself then you may find lying it down on its spine the easier approach because you can slide it up to the truck/trailer standing up, and then tip it in and onto its spine.
