It was a gift. I put these things on my “want” list. They are made of leather, but they still have a lot of flexibility and aren’t too thin to protect your hands.
I use these to carve small pieces of wood. I use them to keep my fingers safe from accidental slips. They also feel good on my finger or thumb because they aren’t rough. Until now, I haven’t used more than 2.
It doesn’t seem like they were made for wood carving, and they can be a little too big for the small details of wood carving. Also, they make my fingers smell bad, which is not good. It might help to wash, but I haven’t tried it yet. If you want to protect your fingers while whittling or carving, you might want to get a whittling or carving guard. The only time I use these now is when I know my fingers will be near where I might slip or punch through a very thin layer of wood.
If I buy these again, I probably won’t, but they work well enough that I don’t think I need to try a different one.
