What is going on with all the good reviews. Where should I start. The mounting plate was so bumpy and uneven that it was like a brake, stopping the work piece from sliding across the surface. Fixed it by grinding it level, sanding it smooth, cleaning with fine steel wool and wax paste, and buffing with a white towel until it was clean. Then it was ready to use again. The work piece didn’t get black residue this way. This is how the wood looks after all that work. Now it’s time to move the plate around again. To keep the plate in place, you should put countersunk leveling screws and screws for the plate in the right places. But they don’t work that way. They shake loose with each pass, throwing everything out of whack. Finally, the fence: no matter how well you set it up and tighten it down, it won’t stay square. Every time I tried to put pressure on a board, the fence came out of place. An eight-way test was done before giving up.
A router table was my first one. The only good thing I can say is that I learned a lot about what makes a good router table. This table doesn’t have any of them.
