I had my last one for about 7 years. I used it every day. When I bought it for $200, I didn’t know for about two weeks that it had been submerged in water. For a few days, I dried it out and let it dry. It still worked great. Because I used and abused the old one. I finally broke the mechanism that locks my knife blade a few weeks ago. After the flood, things were always a little off. But, still, it worked.
Because it was so hard to use, it was one of the most difficult power tools I ever had. A helper even used it for two years.
A multitool with an oscillating blade is a good thing to have for many different things. If I had only one power tool, this would be it.
Here’s the next one. I went with the 5.5 amp model because I thought it would be the most powerful. I thought the old one couldn’t get any better. It’s done. In my old one, I think vibrations got to my hands maybe 50% of the time, compared to my new one. As for the oscillating pattern or speed, I don’t know if it’s different. The max whizzes through the wood like butter. Shipping is very quick for us. If I had to pick a flaw, I would say that it doesn’t work with the old-style blades. I didn’t have a lot of old blades. Besides, my 1 1/2 inch carbide tipped blade has already been lost. I need it now. Because I didn’t want to have too many of them, I replaced them when I thought it was time. If you take care around nails, that blade will last for months. I hope they make this blade in the starlock style. I know for sure that Home Depot doesn’t sell them.
Only then did Bosch not get 5 stars. I wish I could have taken a half-star off of it.
