For cutting curves and scallops and other things, this jig saw is a great choice. It works well with a wide range of materials. This jig saw is made of aluminum and has an insulated cover. It has a state-of-the-art counterbalance mechanism for low vibration and Constant Response circuitry that keeps the speed steady even when it’s full. It has a large die-cast aluminum footplate with a tool-free bevel adjustment that makes it easy to make quick and easy changes. It also has LED lights and a dust blower to make sure you can see the cut line at all times. The jig saw doesn’t need any tools to change the blade. The multi-direction blade clamp makes it easier to hold T-shank blades (Bosch jig saws do not accept U-shank blades). People who own it don’t like it very much. It has an extra guide to keep the blade straight. As long as you don’t forget that the jigsaw blade below your foot isn’t very strong, that’s good (in the material). When you need a very precise cut with a jigsaw, you should use a straight cutting bit with a router to make the cut. To cut backcutting trim that I would scribe, I bought this saw. I was so tired of looking for an allen wrench to tilt the foot on my old saw, so I bought this one. In the Bosch, there is a simple lever you can pull. Out of the box, the tension on the lever was weird. I would pull the lever to loosen the foot, but I would still have to fight like crazy to move the foot. There was no longer enough tension to keep the foot in place after I turned the lever 1/8th of a turn or less. I could move the foot, but not enough to keep it there. FRUSTRATING. The foot then broke. See the pictures below. One day, when I opened the case, I saw that a lot of the foot had been cut off. In my head, I don’t know how this came about. Then, if the metal shoe they sell for about twenty dollars had been included and installed on the pricey jigsaw. That should be fine. It cost me about $90 to get a new part from Bosch parts and service. Ordered: $10 of that order was for an insert, but it was already part of the $60-$70 base plate assembly. You wouldn’t have known that by looking at a parts diagram, though. If someone else has the same problem, I took a picture of the invoice so they can see it if they come to this place (just buy the base plate).
