To make the Bosch palm routers even more useful, Bosch has made a new plunge base called the PR011. The PR011 has a very smooth plunge action and easy micro fine depth adjustments thanks to depth scales printed on the tool in both inches and millimeters. The plunge base makes it easy to set the depth quickly and accurately. It has a 7-step depth stop, two of which can be changed. The plunge lock lever on the PR011 is near the left handle, and when it’s released, it moves to the locked position. Most people like this. When woodworkers use jigs, templates, dovetail fixtures, and other guidance devices, they can see their work at all times thanks to a clear sub-base. The unit’s precision centering design makes it easy to move the sub-base to keep a bit on the intended cut line.
Installing the router motor into this base is so hard that it’s not worth it. It’s just a little too tight, which makes it hard to get the motor in and in the right place. Not at all what I thought I would get from a Bosch product at all. I’ve heard or read somewhere else that Bosch products aren’t as good as they used to be. I think we should agree. If I had to start over, I would have chosen a different brand. But I already had money in the motor. A positive thing to say about this: Once it is set up and installed, it works very well. You can set the depth of the dive to the exact depth you want.
