There are some things I need to do that are very specific, but I haven’t seen my solution anywhere else and it works great, so I wanted to share it:
It was because the top of this Bosch router table is large and made of metal that I bought it. I’m not sure how long MDF tops last.
The table is great and a great value for your money!
My specific needs, on the other hand, were for a router table that was both powerful and easy to move.
I use it at home, but I’ll also need it to build film sets at my company’s first video studio (we’re still building the studio).
It sounds like you could put this on a bench and use it… not a good idea.
Face-to-face, you’d be putting in a lot.
Because of the stand, the table top is too high for a bench or miter saw stand, and too low for the ground.
“Tabletop” would be more correct, but even a kitchen table height makes it too high.
Regardless, I had to think about how easy it was to move and how much money I could spend.
I came up with a complete routing solution as follows:
I bought the Dewalt 618 router package with the fixed and plunge bases, so I could use it.
When I bought this Bosch table, I put the fixed base on it. I left the plunge base open so I could buy a second DW618 motor only for routing with a handheld tool.
Afterwards, I bought the DW7440RS Rolling Table Saw Stand.
It’s very low and puts the Bosch router table at the perfect height for me, who is 5’9″ tall. It also folds up and rolls away.
I may have the world’s most portable routing set up, but it could be mine.
Haha!
Besides, I did a lot of research to figure out how to do all of that. I think that those three things were a good compromise for my budget needs.
On the DW7440RS stand, the Bosch RA1181 is strong but easy to move, and I’ve been having a lot of fun with it!
