I like how well this tool for nailing down the floor works. I’m using it to install 3/4″ oak hardwood. I’ve done about half of the 1200sq ft job so far, but I still need to finish the rest. Some things to think about.

1. There is a certain amount of hammer force that must be used to properly release the nail. If you don’t hit hard enough, the nail will only be pushed in part. If you use more force to tighten planks together, that is fine.

2. You will have to stay about 8 inches away from the edge of a wall because this tool won’t fit. You need to nail the planks. I used a finish nailer to nail those last strips together with the help of the tool.

3. You must seat the floor nailer on the plank edge and make sure it does not move during your hammering – if it is not held straight or securely, it will move. This ruined the edge of my pre-finished oak planks because of the way it went (minor blemish – fixable with plastic wood).

Four: Keep an eye on your nail charge. If you run out of your nails it can still make an indentation, which makes you think your nails were put in.
