Buy Bucket Mortar Mixer

When you use the Bucket Mortar Mixer, it makes all kinds of mortar and concrete in a 5 gallon bucket.

Auger action moves material from the bottom to the top, and the handle lets you stir the auger.

Dry pack mortar (deck mud, mortar, and sand) can be mixed in 30 seconds or less with this tool.

Foam-covered steel handle with oil-impregnated bronze bearings that don’t need to be changed.

A drill with a 1/2-inch chuck needs a drill motor (keyed type recommended). With a shaft that is zinc plated and has a length of 30.

It’s important for tile setters and stone masons to know how to work with tiles and stones. Fire your hoe and give away your mix box. With a bucket mortar mixer, you don’t have to work as hard as you would with a mix box or a wheelbarrow and a hoe. A drill and a hoe cost less than a mix box and a shovel. Clean up is easier and there is less bulk. Dry packs have been hard to mix together in the past.

I bought this to help me with my shower renovation project. I used it to build a dry pack mortar bed for my slope that would go under a kerdi shower membrane.

I was most afraid of the dry pack. So, I had to mix 10x 55lb bags together. After I hand-mixed it, I thought I would be too tired to put it in. Buckets for mixing by hand are not a good idea. If I had a wheel barrow, I wouldn’t be able to move 10 bags. I don’t have one of those big mixing tubs.

Using this auger, I was able to mix the dry pack in the driveway and carry it into the house in buckets. This made it easy for me to do this. I used a cheap Harbor Freight 1/2 hammer drill/drill combo to get the job done quickly. I was afraid I would burn the drill, so I bought a mixing drill as a back-up.

You can mix half of the bags together in two separate buckets, then mix them all together. 55 pounds of mortar makes the drill work a lot harder, and it gets very hot. You also end up slinging mortar all over outside of your bucket.

In batches of two or four bags at a time, I was able to get through all 10 bags (partially to take them up and start packing the bed, partially to let the drill cool down). Quite the surprise: I did not burn up my drill.

People who need it for this job should buy it for $75. It doesn’t matter how many times you only use it, because this is a must-have tool. Because I wanted it quickly, I bought it from Amazon and paid $120. Still worth it, but if I had planned better, I could have gotten it for $50 less if I had thought about how long it would take to ship.

I think that the product in general is a very good one!
