Compared to my old pancake compressor, the 8010 is a lot quieter. I wouldn’t go so far as to call it “quiet,” though; and it’s not even “ultra quiet. Some people here make it sound like this thing is whisper quiet when it works. Isn’t. The video made by the manufacturer also makes it look a lot quieter than it is, even though it isn’t. I’m going to show you a video I made with a TASCAM DR-40 audio recorder set to a fixed audio gain. Compare this video to the one made by the company.
In most cases, I measure 55-60 dB with my phone held at ear height above the machine. If the manufacturer says the machine should be measured at 60 dB, I measure 70 dB. At the same height above the ground, the pancake compressor has a noise level of 75 dB. This is, of course, a lot louder.
So far, the compressor seems to be able to hold a lot of air, which is good. Then again, so did the pancake compressor when it was new before it started to leak. Time will tell. When the box arrived, there was no sign of damage or faulty welds.
With the pancake, the air flow is a little less than with the standard pancake. The pancake air flow is 2.6 CFM at 90psi while the pancake air flow is 2.2 CFM at 90psi. When it came to the price and the size, it might have been better to get a bigger one. Wheels and a relatively light weight make it easy to move around, making it easy to move around.
Because the main reason I bought this compressor was to cut down on the annoying noise of the pancake, I’m not 100% satisfied with the 8010’s performance. Either the tool I have is noisier than other people say, or people are exaggerating the absence of noise to a significant degree.
