You can use the CALIFORNIA AIR TOOLS 4610AC Ultra Quiet & Oil-Free Air Compressor to be one of the quietest air compressors on the market. It has only 60 decibels of sound. At 1680 RPM, the powerful 1.0 HP (SP-9413) motor makes less noise and lasts longer. It has been made so that the “New” SP Series of Ultra Quiet Air Compressor Motors can run more often and for longer periods of time. The Oil-Free Dual Piston Pump System is built for high performance and long-term use. As an example, the CAT-4610AC Air Compressor has an Oil-Free Dual Piston pump that is supposed to last for 3000 hours or more before it needs to be replaced. This is a lot longer than other air compressors that only last for 500 hours or less. The Oil-Free pump can be used in a wide range of temperatures and on different types of ground. Because the 4.6 Gallon Aluminum (Rust-Free) Air Tank weighs only 45.5 pounds, it’s very easy to move. This air compressor is great for people who work inside where noise is a big deal.

Before I say anything bad about this compressor, I want to say that it is very quiet. There are only a few compressors I’ve seen that are as quiet or quieter than mine if they are oiled and cost at least $1,000. It also seems to fill up faster than any of the small oil-less compressors I’ve had in the past. I’m not an expert on compressors, but I’m just old and don’t know any better.

I just opened the box today, so I don’t know how long it will last. However, the check valve didn’t work. Heaved a little. I could not tighten it any more because I might break a copper tube that was connected to it. It leaks about 10 pounds per minute, which means it turns on every three minutes or so when not in use.

I called California Air Tools to find out what they could do to help me. There were no hand-offs to people who knew the answer. Quickly, he agreed that the check valve was broken. He told me to go to the website and fill out an online form to get a new check valve sent to me. Three things caught my eye. For the first time, it didn’t seem like California Air Tools did this. It says in the documentation that each piece of equipment is checked before it is sent to a new place. At least for air retention, I don’t think mine was. There was a high-pitched hiss that could be heard. The customer service rep’s answer made me think he had dealt with this before. People say each compressor is checked. I wonder if that is true. Sometimes things fall through the gaps, and mistakes are made, so it’s important to keep an eye on things. If that’s the case with my compressor, that could be the case to. My question is not a silly one.

Second, most of the time when I get a new item and it doesn’t work right, I get a new one. I would have tried to fix the check valve even if I had been given a replacement (and almost did anyway). I know that if the fix doesn’t work out, a company like that will take care of me. It’s not always easy for companies to get me to fix things before they offer to replace them. String me along and not replace or fully fix the thing. They could do this for a long time. None of the people from California Air Tools said that they would buy or replace the thing. Because I bought from Amazon, I may have been able to choose that as a payment method. If the new check valve didn’t work out and Amazon didn’t take care of me, maybe they would have. I would have tried to fix it if the offer of a new compressor was on the table. It was broken.

As a third thing, I tried to get the part online, but I haven’t heard back from them yet about when it’s going to be shipped. I also don’t know if they will replace the item, even though their website said it went through. If I had to use the compressor every day, I would find this very bad. I’d like the part to be shipped right away. This is a new tool, and California Air Tools seems to be a little too carefree about it. So maybe I’m not in line. However, another company had the same problem. Before I got off the phone, they had a new part ready. It came the next day. When I was sent to the website, I don’t know if I’ll get the part or when. All I could do was answer a question. A compressor is very important for some people. California Air Tools doesn’t seem to be aware of that. The stars may not have lined up in this case. I don’t think what I write here is very interesting on its own. It’s just one piece of data, but if other people say the same thing, then maybe it’s important. If not, then most likely not. If you don’t mind that the compressor leaks air, you’ll like this one, even though you haven’t used it very much before.

Amazon told me that I could send the compressor back and get a new one. I can’t get a replacement for at least a week from Amazon, though, because they sent it right away even though I ordered it a week and a half ago. said it was in stock. Not sure why they can’t send the replacement two-day air or overnight. It says it’s in stock and prime eligible, and now all the items I get are two-day air or faster even though I’m a prime member (I live in Alaska, which seems to matter).

When I think about it, it brings up a problem I have had with Amazon before. I’d rather try to fix the thing than have them pay to send it back and get a new one. If they had to send it to California Air Tools, they would have to do that as well. A waste of time. I can’t seem to find an answer that says it’s OK to try to fix it and then send it back if it doesn’t work. There are also no answers that say it’s not OK for me to do what I want. What I get back doesn’t seem clear enough to be sure. After a new check valve was sent, I also asked for more time to check out the compressor. There’s no deal. There’s nothing wrong with giving me more time to fix and see if it works. I understand it in some way. I’m not a professional, so I could hurt the thing I’m trying to fix by trying to fix it myself. Then again, other things that have a broken part that can be easily replaced have also had this happen, but they can be easily fixed (an air hose on a sprayer that is regularly removed, for example – in that case, the manufacturer offered to send me a hose overnight – we compromised with 2-day air – Amazon would not send a replacement part they stocked preferring I ship the entire HVLP sprayer back). In general, replacing the check valve is a simple process that seems to be a better choice all around. I would also have a compressor, but one that I would have to turn on and off every three minutes to keep it from running. I think Amazon should be the one who has to pay.

I don’t know if California Air Tools will take care of me, and their response was not very good. Amazon’s choices don’t look very good. I decided to send the compressor back without getting a new one because I didn’t want to deal with the unknown. There is no way for me to know for sure whether I will buy a California Air Tools compressor. Before I look into other quiet compressors, I’m going to check this one out. This one sure is good for that, though.
