I purchased this in order to sand and sculpt wood. This tool, which has a 36 grit disk attached to it, consumes wood quickly. A quarter inch of wood was removed over a 3 x 5 inch area by using this tool. To complete the task, it only took a few minutes of time. It is much faster than the rotary grinder that I currently own, but it is not suitable for delicate work. Only thing I don’t like about it is that it doesn’t have variable speed. Since I originally published this, I’ve received some new information. I discovered that the tool trigger can be used to vary the speed, but that there is only about 1/8″ of pull between the off and full speed positions. This increases its versatility significantly, but it necessitates a delicate touch.

It’s a fantastic tool for sculpting wooden objects.
