Carefree’s Auto-Retraction System will keep your Travel’r awning in good condition. The Direct Response Auto-Retract System detects awning motion caused by the wind and automatically retracts the awning. This sensor is located in the motor head of the vehicle. The system works by measuring the amount of movement of the awning. When the amount of movement exceeds the threshold value set by the manufacturer, the system will automatically retract the awning. The awning will fully retract if you press and hold the retract button for several seconds. The Auto-Retract System has two settings: ON and OFF. The sensitivity to motion is pre-programmed at the factory.
The unit was simple to set up. However, there are two issues to consider.
1. When the awning is being retracted, the awning begins to extend as soon as the arm is seated in the bracket. If I stop it just short of seating it in the wall mounting bracket and then restart it, it will remain seated in the bracket.
2. No matter how hard I shake the awning, as the instructions state, it will not retract on its own without assistance. While searching Amazon for a place where I can get technical support, I was unable to locate any such option.
Do you have any recommendations, or should I simply return it on the assumption that it is defective?
