First, I changed the blade on the Dewalt DWS779 saw I just bought. Even though they were made from soft metal, the arbor bolt was torqued down so tight that it came out of the box with a small chunk missing. Rather than having a head that could be used with a wrench or socket, it had a round head that needed an allen key. Because it was partly stripped from the factory, I didn’t have much luck with an allen key and had to use vice grips.

There was no way I was going to put back that arbor bolt, so I bought this one. It came quickly and did a good job. To change blades in the future, I can now use a real wrench to get the bolt off. I don’t understand why this design isn’t the norm. Perhaps the newer DWS780 doesn’t have this piece of hardware, but this one worked for me.
