I had considered that before putting this to the test – I needed to remove a chain link fence gate and figured that this ratchet wrench would be useful in removing the “pins” from the gate. Before using the ratchet wrench, I sprayed some gel-like lubricating oil around the pin and allowed it to sit for a few minutes before applying the wrench. Because of some movement of dirt during rainstorms (making it difficult to move the gate – I’ve removed the dirt, but more takes its place, sooo..move the gate), the gate had to be raised from its original position to about 2 inches higher. The ratchet wrench was successful in removing the pins. As long as I plan ahead of time and use caution when working on my projects, this ratchet wrench should prove to be beneficial. It is not a replacement for a professional air pressure ratchet wrench, but it can be useful for light-duty home projects where air pressure is not required.
