In the past, I worked at making things out of wood and metal for a living.
I had a Craftsman heavy duty 20 gallon shop vac for 40 years, and it just died. It did a great job.
I was shocked when I went to buy a new vacuum cleaner and saw how cheap everything was: plastic instead of metal, cheaper materials, and less durable. This was true of all the stores I looked at.
Unfortunately, most of the stores in the area don’t sell 20 gallon shop vacs. Instead, they sell smaller products that are less powerful.
My old vacuum cleaner broke down, so I bought a Rigid 14 gallon heavy duty vac to replace it. It didn’t work well right away.
The vacuum was weak, and the 14-gallon canister was completely insufficient for the job at hand.
The canister is so small that the filter is quickly surrounded by debris and starts to lose suction when the canister is only half full.
To find out more, I did a search on the web.
Many of the big vacuum companies don’t even make a 20-gallon vac. Craftsman, on the other hand, had at least two or three different types.
I looked at all of the Craftsman models and chose the CRAFTSMAN CMXEVBE17596, which has a lot more suction (measured in CFM) than the other models.
I’ve used it a lot now, and it has the same strength of vacuum as my dead vac, which is very important to me. It also has the same performance features as my dead vac.
I was finally looking for a vacuum that could be used both wet and dry, had a 20 gallon canister, a 20-foot power cord, and strong suction.
The only thing left to figure out is how long the device will last.
I’m happy in every other way, too.
From my point of view, the dust bag that comes with the canister is useless.
It does the same thing that the canister itself already does: it collects everything your vacuum picks up. You pay each time you use one and throw one away, but it’s worth it.
It’s a waste of time and money.
