This tool worked great for about 6 lug nuts, but after that, it wouldn’t move. The problem seems to be a trigger. When I was younger, I worked as an auto and diesel mechanic for 30 years as a master. A lot of my tools are cordless, and I think I have more than $100k worth of them. I’ve seen tools from every brand break down over the years, but not always the second time I use them.

I bought this from Amazon to use as a second 1/2″ impact. I thought it was very well-balanced, had a long battery life, and took a long time to charge up. For warranty reasons, I signed up for the product with Craftsman. When the trigger broke on the second time I used it, I was glad I did that. I was out of time for Amazon to replace it, so I called Craftsman.

It took me three times to contact them before I got a response. They asked me to send them pictures of the model number, serial number, and other things. This is how it works. In the next day, I sent a picture of the damage and got back to say that a new impact was being sent to me. Because of shipping delays, I should expect a 2-week wait.

It’s not a big deal, but it’s been 6 weeks and there hasn’t been any change. Contact Craftsman again. It’s been 5 days and no one has replied.

Again, I’ve had a lot of Craftsman tools over the last 30 years. I’ve also used a lot of them. Many times, I’ve had a ratchet or socket fall out of my hand. In 10 minutes, I would take the broken tool to Sears and give it to them. They would replace it with a new one, and I would walk out with a new tool. If you need a new tool, you can’t go to Sears. But since Stanley/Black and Decker bought Craftsman, they’re not the same tools they used to be.

Snap On is my dealer for cordless tools, so I think I’ll get the next one from them. If it breaks, the dealer will give me a new one and I’ll be back in business.
