This saw is significantly more expensive than comparable Ryobi or Flex saws, which are both manufactured in China. The base plate of a saw is what I look for. What use is it if it can’t keep the saw blade running parallel to the base of the machine. The base is made of inexpensive stamped sheet metal that is not even flat. True, the rollers make this less of a problem, but they also prevent you from using a flat straight edge to guide your cut as you would otherwise. Do you want a straight cut. The only options are to modify the base by adding an edge that extends beyond the roller pins, or to pay $731 for the vendor’s solution..which is a complicated saw guide system. Is it important that the cut is as close to the wall or backsplash as possible. You’ve already lost 1″ due to the bulky blade housing, so they went ahead and used fancy thumb knob screws for the cover plate, which wastes another 1/2″ more space. I returned to the store in search of special metric flat head screws to replace the ones that were damaged. I put my faith in the Eibenstock brand and overpaid for this tool, despite the fact that their old core drills were of excellent quality. Using their well-known German brand to sell a new line of inexpensive tools aimed at the American market, are they following in the footsteps of Flex?
