With a three knife cutter head, the thickness planer’s knives last 30% longer and knife changes are faster.
In this case, the wood planer has two speeds: 96 and 179 CPI. This means that users can change the feed speed to make the best cuts per inch at either of these two speeds.
An air fan helps eject chips from the cutter head by sucking them up and blowing them out of the machine.
The 19-3/4-inch cast aluminum base is 2 times more stable than a standard 10-inch base, and folding tables with this base are 2 times more stable than tables with a standard 10-inch base.

The DEWALT DW735X 13-Inch, Three Knives, Two Speed Thickness is a saw that has three knives and two different speeds.
If you want to make big cuts in thick materials, you can use this tool because it has a powerful 15 AMP, 20,000 RPM motor (10,000 RPM cutterhead speed).
Thirty percent longer knives can be made with the three-knife cutter-head. It also makes it easier to change the knives.
At 96 or 179 CPI, users can change the feed speed to get the best cuts per inch. This gear box has two speeds.
In this machine, there’s a fan that helps with chip ejection. The fan vacuums chips off of the cutter-head and blows them out of the machine.
In this case, it has a 19-3/4″ cast aluminum base, which makes it 2X more stable than a standard 10” base or folding table.

There is almost no flaw in the finish this planer leaves behind.
That’s good.
Bad: The knives get worn out quickly.
That’s not good for the planer. It can slow it down and make the motor overload go off right in the middle of a piece of wood.

This was the third time in two hours that I used the planer, so I used it again.
It can happen based on where the handle on the wheel is. Vibration can make the head of the planer fall.
Soon after I found out, I stuck a wood wedge in the wheel to keep it from moving around.
But even if you take less than 1/100th of a second, the overload still trips “Each time.
Twenty years with the Delta, there have been no problems like this for me at all!
Next week, I’ll send it to Dewalt while it’s still under warranty.
Fix the tripping, make sure it doesn’t fall, and see if the motor has gone bad.
Also, it’s very loud.
I took a reading of 126 dB while I was planning a 3 hp engine “A very long maple board.
Ear plugs and muffs work together to make the noise more bearable, so you can listen to it.
That’s a good thing, though.
Some people put in a Shelix cutterhead, which costs another $400.
You can buy a good used floor model for the same price as this thing and the Shelix, which is a good deal.
If you’re a real woodworker, I don’t think this planer is for you.
