My 15-year-old Craftsman drill’s Li-Ion battery finally died. I spent a lot of time reading reviews to find a new drill to use. So, I was thinking about getting a new battery. I didn’t like how heavy and big it was, so I thought about just getting a new battery for it. The 791 and 796 products made the cut after I looked at a lot of other reviews. A lot of people say things that aren’t true, so I’ll try to clear up a few things for you.
In the 791 that I got, there was a rattle in the chuck, but it didn’t seem to affect how well it worked. However, the chuck moved more on the 791 than the 796. The 796 chuck didn’t move horizontally at all.
In the pictures, you can see that the weight difference between the 791 and 796 isn’t that big (approx 11.2 oz).
Measurements I took show that the 791 is about 9/16 of an inch longer than the 796. The two can be up to 1.5″ apart from each other in some measurements on the web. This isn’t true.
There are two things in this package that the 791 doesn’t have. You can get twice as much juice from a 4 ah battery than you can from a normal 2 ah battery. Besides that, the battery charger that comes with this package will charge the 791’s battery twice as quickly as the one that comes with the 791.
As a whole, this might be the best thing you can buy if you are a professional or an advanced DIY person.
