In SLC, Utah, I drove by the warranty repair center to get the sander fixed. May 28th was the last day they were open. There was a sign on the door that said they were closed and didn’t know when they would open again. I think this is a great way for Dewalt to serve their customers.
I called the number for the place and talked about my repair needs. I was told to go online and start the process of getting my money back from the company. To return the sander for warranty, I would need to give them a credit card number and my permission to charge me $107. When I went online, I found out that the device was still under warranty. I can get the same sander for $96 right now. There was a charge of $107 on the request for service, and I couldn’t make a return until I checked out and paid the rest. The sander came with a three-year warranty and a one-year labor warranty. Dewalt’s factory service center wants me to pay almost as much as I paid for the sander seven months ago. Apparently, the warranty isn’t worth the paper it was written on. I won’t buy anything from a company that doesn’t stand behind its products. I think you should look into another brand that stands behind their products. I’m going to get rid of my Dewalt tools and look into Milwaukee.
