It usually takes two seconds or less for the kickback brake to stop the wheel, but this isn’t always the case.

For all-day bench use, I don’t think either of these will be better than the corded/pneumatic tools I already own (I have the regular bench tools, too). But for those times when you need to do small or awkward jobs without having to drag a long air-hose or electric cord, these are a nice addition. The battery that comes with both tools has a good amount of life, even though it makes them a little heavier than their corded/pneumatic counterparts. Even with a lot of grinding, the battery life is impressive.
