The DCF887 measures only 5.55 inches from front to back and weighs only 2.9 pounds, making it ideal for use in small spaces. The DCF620 drywall screwgun can operate at speeds of up to 4,400 rpm and has a brushless motor for long runtime.
I haven’t had a chance to put the drywall gun through its paces yet, but the impact driver is excellent. The results were almost too good: in 5 minutes on the middle torque setting, I destroyed 3/5 of the bits in a Makita bit pack. Buy DeWalt driver bits instead of the cheaper alternatives; they seem to last much longer and are much more durable. High setting isn’t recommended for most screws because it tends to apply so much torque that it shears the screws apart, but it’s a problem that you should be happy about having.
A little shorter than expected for the price point and the small listed capacity, but that’s to be expected, so there aren’t any major complaints here either. Using this little monster, I was able to drive approximately 3 pounds of deck screws per battery before needing to swap out the batteries for another. Since I don’t anticipate making extensive use of both drivers at the same time, I simply swap the batteries between the driver and the charger, and the system is able to keep up reasonably well.
While getting another battery would not be a bad idea if you’re working hard, for home use, this is far more driver than you’ll ever reasonably require at a reasonable price.
