DEWALT’s cordless framing nailer has a dual-speed motor that can drive a wide range of nails for more versatility.

The tool-free selector switch on the framing nailer gun lets you choose from sequential or bump-fire modes without having to use a wrench or tool.

For precise nail placement, you don’t need to use a tool.

When there is a jam, hold the release lever down so the driver blade can move freely agai.

It can be changed to fit different rafters.

It’s easy to reach the nosepiece so you can remove nails that have become stuck.

It stops the tool from firing when nails are low.

The 20V MAX* Cordless 30 degree Paper Collated Framing Nailer can drive nails that are 2-inch to 3-1/2-inch long, and it can be used on any surface. With a long runtime and a lot of power, this nailer is built to do a lot of work on the job site. DEWALT’s 20V framing nailer has a new engine design that gives it more power and better drive quality than older DEWALT cordless nailers. It has a small shape, a well-balanced design, and simple features that make it an efficient and productive tool for your team.

As a person who likes to do things on their own, I’m not a builder. About a month ago, I bought this to help me with a big remodel project. I didn’t want to bring my compressor and pneumatic gun up to the attic with me, so I bought this. I have a lot of FlexVolt tools, so I have a lot of batteries. They’ve been very durable and flexible tools. Admittedly, I love that I can change the batteries when I need to. I have enough batteries to run my drill, saw, nailer, and oscillating tool without having to change them very often.

I looked at the reviews and was worried about the number of negative reviews. There were a lot of complaints about frequent jams and not being able to drive nails in completely. But I bought it anyway (happy birthday to me). You paid less than you would at a big-box store for the same thing.

I looked at the directions and went up to the attic. 3 1/4″ and 2 1/2″ nails made by GripRite were bought. It took me a while to load the gun with 3 1/4″ rounds, but I was happy to fire away until the first shot. No, not me. I was the victim of the dreaded incomplete drive and the jam. Fired about 10 more rounds, all with the same result, even though I set the depth of drive to its highest setting. When I saw the nail selector switch on the handle, I thought, “Oh, that’s a good idea. Setting #1 is for short nails, and setting #2 is for long nails. In setting 1, the nails don’t get pushed too far. In setting 2, you can use all of your power, and it is a lot more powerful. So, I switched to setting 2 and adjusted the depth of drive, and voila! Perfectly driven nails. Then, I explained to my son why it’s important to read the directions and then follow them. I’ve only had one jam since, and I think that’s because I was holding it the wrong way. Other than that, all of the nails have been put in the right way.

Most of the bad reviews I’ve seen match my own experience. I could be wrong, but I think they had the selector switch in the wrong place for the nail they were driving. I think most people are using nails that are longer than the ones that came with the unit. People make this mistake a lot, but it’s easy to fix. You can’t see the selector switch when you hold the gun, but it’s not hidden in any way.

All in all, this is a very strong unit that can be used for DIY projects, and I think it would be good for building as well. I have the 6 AH battery full and haven’t charged it yet. I’ve been using it for about two weeks now. I don’t have to carry the compressor up stairs and deal with the hose, and I don’t have to wait for the compressor to charge up again. It is a little heavy when you work over your head, though.

All in all, I think this is a very strong unit that can more than live up to its promises. At the risk of sounding like a fanboy for DeWalt, I think this nail gun is great.

I did not get paid for this review, I did not get the item at a discount, and this review is true to how I used the DeWalt FlexVolt framing nail gun.
