Buy DEWALT 20V MAX XR L-Shape SDS Plus Rotary Hammer Drill, 1-1/8-Inch, Tool Only (DCH293B)

A cordless hammer drill with 3.5 Joules of impact energy gives the same power as a drill with a cord, but without the cord.

It comes with a DEWALT 20V hammer drill that has a lot of different tools in it. For maximum control in bind-up situations, use the E-Clutch. This is both a Perform and Protect feature.

People who use the DEWALT 20V brushless hammer drill that has SHOCKS Active Vibration Control don’t feel as much vibration at the handles. This is a feature that lets you both do and protect yourself.

DEWALT made a brushless motor that can run all day and last a long time.

Retractable utility hook for easy hanging.

Engineered in Germany for quality and long-term use.

It is ready for dust management. Use D25304DH with this.

The Rotary Hammer Drill style is called that.

There is a DEWALT brushless motor in the DCH293B 20V MAX* XR Brushless 1-1/8-inch Rotary Hammer, and it has a durable German-engineered mechanism that gives the drill its power. Even the hardest concrete can’t stop this DEWALT cordless hammer drill from working all day. It has a balanced design, Active Vibration Control, and an Extreme Run Time. The patented E-Clutch system gives the user more control in a bind-up situation and can help reduce the sudden torque reaction of a standard clutch. If you want to get rid of a lot of dust, you’ll need the DCH293.

Having the 20V max drill, hammer, impact, and small band saw made this the best choice for me. I’ve used a lot of sds-style battery drills while working for different contractors over the years, so I know a lot about the different brands. Hilti, of course, is the most well-known, but Milwaukee and Dewalt aren’t giving up much these days, either. The two options were the DCH273B and this one, the DCH293B. I thought I’d go with the newest and best model. This thing is huge when I open the box. As someone who has had to carry a Hilti TE6A around all day knows, this drill is just as heavy and bulky. To be honest, I think the DCH273B might have been a better choice for me. It is a little smaller and lighter. As soon as you start to use this model (DCH293B), you notice that it has twice as much hammer power than its smaller brother. First, I drilled a hole through a metal pan deck and into concrete to put in a 1/4″ drop in anchor. It did it with ease. This drill is said to be made in Germany. I think Dewalt is borrowing the hammer mechanism from Hilti or Matabo sds hammer drills because it rips through material like these drills do. As before, the drill isn’t very light.

As far as the build goes, it looks like it’s strong. I did notice the rubber boot that covers the shock absorber on the top of the handle. I think this will be the first thing to get broken, because the rubber isn’t as heavy as it should be for a drill that gets a lot of use. Because this is for my own use, I’ll be a little more careful about how it’s handled. If you buy this as a drill that a lot of people will be using and abusing, it will be ripped off the unit in 3 or 4 months. As for the spring in the vibration absorber, it could be a little heavier, because you can’t get it to the bottom very quickly. I think Dewalt would have been better off if they had used a piece of thick rubber to dampen the vibration. The drills get a lot of wear and tear, so it doesn’t make sense to make them complicated. I hope I’m not right.

I bought this as a tool without a case, so there is no case. As you can see in the picture, I bought a Dewalt case (DWST17808) on its own. This worked out well because it has a tray in the top of the lid where you can store bits and setting tools. In total, it costs about $38 to get a case with a foam insert and a case. The foam insert costs about $13. The foam insert costs about $25. I don’t think the case will last as long as the case that comes with this tool if you buy it as a set. Make sure you notice that there is no space for a charger or extra batteries. For me, this is fine. The battery hammer drill is mostly for being easy to use, and the case is small and easy to carry around, so I don’t mind this. If I need to drill a lot of holes, I’ll use the 120V Hilti.

As someone who has bought a tool with a price tag like this, I know how hard it can be to make the right choice. As a last thought, and only my opinion. It’s better to buy a battery-powered drill from Hilti, but if you’re just going to use it for personal work on the side, this drill is more than enough for the job. I only say this because I see Hilti drills being used all the time in the snow, mud, rain, and concrete dust. They keep going and going and going. Why do you see them in every gang box of union contractors? Because they can’t afford to lose one of them. It costs more to waste time and money than to buy a cheap tool that doesn’t work.
