The DWS535 7-1/4-inch Worm Drive Circular Saw has a 15 Amp motor that runs at 4,800 rpm and has a 53-degree bevel capacity for more complex projects. Because I’ve been making things with wood for a long time. I’ve always had a hard time cutting plywood with my cabinet saw. Most of the time I work alone, and I don’t have enough space for out-feed accessory tables, for example. In most cases, when I ask my family for help cutting sheet goods, I end up with a bad cut.
I thought it was unlikely that a circular saw with a 6 1/2-inch blade would be able to make a good cut. Was I right. The saw is great at cutting up sheets of paper. Has a lot of power and makes great cuts. For a sacrifice surface, I bought a piece of insulation board that was 1.5 inches wide and was on sale for $5. When I’m done cutting, I lay the plywood on it and do the same thing. It’s simple, quick, and correct.
Putting a straight edge on rough wood can also be done this way. I made a jig so I could do this on the table saw, but the track saw does this so much better.
Outside the box. The saw is strong and well-built. The instructions were a little hard to follow. It looked like there was some kind of quick start guide attached to the handle of the saw. In this book, there was no text, but there were only pictures of things. Tightening the saw guides is part of the first set up. This makes sure there is no wiggle between the saw’s base and the rails. The next step is to start the saw and run it down the track to cut the rubber strip that acts like a zero clearance insert on a table saw to keep wood from splintering. Trims the track to the exact line of the cut made by the saw. That’s all. When did it take? It took about two minutes. Because DeWalt tried to make the documentation too simple for a simple person like me to understand, I had to watch a YouTube video to learn how to set up the tool.
I’m in love with the saw. I love it. Because of the way the plunger moves, it sounds like “buttah. I bought two sections of track and the piece of hardware needed to connect them. This is a $20 accessory that comes with the saw and track but not with the saw itself. The saw I bought from Amazon didn’t have it when I wrote this review or when I bought it. I had a hard time finding one. Think about getting the 102” track, too, so that you can cut full sheets of plywood at once. The saw doesn’t move smoothly over the joint in the rail track because it’s too big (sticks a bit). In spite of this, I’m afraid that the saw track will move if I push it to get it past a joint. Keep an allen wrench in your pocket to put the track together and take it apart for different cuts. It’s a bit of a pain and could use some design work. In spite of the fact that there is a problem with joining track, the tool makes things so much easier. Even with that problem, the tool is still much better and easier than a table saw.
I also bought the extra clamps. You don’t need them to cut things that are lying down. Track stays in place just because of friction, not because of any other reason. If you need to cut vertical surfaces or need a little extra “insurance” when cutting expensive materials, clamps are for you, too. I saw a video of someone cutting the bottom of a door without taking it apart. They put the track on the door and cut it there.

For more than a year, I’ve used the saw to cut things. It still works great and I haven’t had any problems with it or the tracks at all. I’ve found that cutting sheet goods for cabinet boxes is much easier than cutting them with a table saw. I still think it’s great.
