***Update**.

The valve plate I replaced the old one with has now broken down for the second time. Because it hasn’t been used for more than three hours, I’ve been having to fix it twice now.

If you like paying a lot for a tool and having to pay for repairs out of your own pocket, this is the compressor for you. It’s not for us. There isn’t anyone at Dewalt who is behind this lemon design.

Trust the bad reviews, but don’t believe the one-star ones.

In the beginning, when I bought the compressor, I used it to do some interior trim work for two windows. The compressor only ran for about an hour total when I first bought the compressor, though. Running the tool was a piece of cake. The volume was exactly what I was looking for, too. Some tires, a few balls, and dust have been blown away by the compressor over the past two years. Honestly, I think I’ve used it for about two hours total. Yesterday, when I tried to use it to lay hardwood floor, I found that it couldn’t go above 55psi. I checked the regulator and cycled from the lowest to the highest regulated air to make sure nothing was stuck. There was still no luck.

When the compressor didn’t work and I was out of warranty, I started dismantling it to figure out what was wrong. It was thought that the problem was with the manifold or valve assembly because compressors are simple. There were two small metal tabs that fell out as I was removing the manifold bolts from the car. There are some photos to look at as well. Three on this side of the valve plate broke. The area is very hot and will cause metal fatigue. Using poor materials will lead to early failure. We did just that here.

“Harbor..” is a store that sells tools for a lot less than this Dewalt. I would totally expect them to work as well as this Dewalt. Because I bought this compressor, I didn’t expect to get such a bad return on my money. I thought it would last for a long time.

As we said earlier, save your money and look at some of the other products from well-known competitors instead. This compressor will not work for you and will make you angry.
