The DEWALT DWE46152 5″ Surface Grinding Dust Shroud is meant to keep dust from getting into your work area when you’re grinding concrete. Dust can be collected through this unit’s flush door when flush edge grinding is done. When you twist and click, the universal vacuum hose connection attaches to the tool. This means you don’t need to put tape down to hold the hose to the shroud. It works with the DEWALT Universal Connector DWV9000, which is sold separately.
It doesn’t matter what other people say about this shroud. It works with the Dewalt DWE402 grinder. If you have a grinder that starts with “DWE4” or “D28,” this product is for you. In the beginning, it can be a lot of work to get this thing on the grinder. You have to rotate it just right so the ridges that hold it in place fit into a set of holes on the grinder collar. Once you do that, you can rotate it to the right place. When this thing is attached correctly, it is very strong and doesn’t move around. As you can see, the clamping screw is only used to keep the shroud from moving around. Using it to hold the shroud to the grinder means you don’t have the shroud on right. Dewalt diamond cup grinder was the other thing I found out. I had to buy it to get the right depth relationship between the shroud and the grinding wheel, so I bought it. Once I did that, I was able to level off a lot of self leveling compound with very little dust. For collecting dust, I would have given this five stars, but because of the bad instructions and the fact that the vacuum hose connector doesn’t work with a standard hose, I gave it one star less than I would have.
