A lot of these drills didn’t work for me. I tried four.
They are very light and very strong.
All four of them were bad, though.
The run out is too long.
On top of that, they are riveted together and can’t be changed without a lot of risk to the drill.
If you put the drill on two settings and push it all the way, the whole drill shakes in your hand.
You can see the chuck move in real life.
A perfect drill would be made with the chuck from the DCD991 if only they used that.
Spade bits have a runout of about 1/8 to more than 1/8 inches, depending on the length.
This is not a flaw, because all four drills did this.
When I have a bigger drill, the DCD991 type chucks work great with it.
I want to love this, but every time I use it, I think about how much I don’t like the chuck.
Power drills should work well in 2019.
HF’s cheap $30 drills have less run-out than this one (sad but true).
So I’m going to keep using my DCD991 for now.
Heavy and too much for most jobs, but at least I don’t get angry.
