The truth is, I didn’t know how much sawdust this would pick up. It was based on gravity, how quickly it was cutting, where the dust collector was set up, and how much sawdust there was. I thought maybe 50% of it would be sucked up. To my surprise the number is probably closer to 90%. Even though I used my DEWALT DCV581H on battery and gaffer taped the connection, I got about 80% of the sawdust.
You can let the saw run for a second or two after you finish cutting to get the last dust out.
I haven’t hooked the saw up to any other vacuum cleaner than the DCV581H or the DCV012. It could be that if I used a more powerful vacuum, like one that cleans ships, it would pick up even more dust.
One small logistical issue that I encountered using this saw right Andes on long cuts is that the hose comes over your arm and then behind you, if you are ripping a 10’ board you will either have to do it in a couple of setups or have a longer hose.
