I think it’s a great tool. Everything fits together well and there is a lot of power.
I’ve used many other mag drills. The Evolution and the Jancy Slugger were the last two things that were made. A better tool is this one. To the people who say the quick release wobbles, they either don’t know how to use it, have bad cutters, or don’t know what this tool is for. There is very little runout with the new annular cutters I bought. They fit perfectly in the quick release and have very little space. Drill press and milling machine aren’t here. There should be about a few thousandths of an inch of runout in this kind of tool. However, it is very true. A lot of 1/4 and 3/8 mild steel plate, as well as the flanges and webs of a 10W22, have been cut with holes so far. There are no problems at all.
A quick-release handle is a great thing. The drill body can be moved up on the slide so you can use the included 1/2″ chuck and NORMAL length twist drill bits. To use this tool, you don’t need to buy a set of stubbies that are just for this. A big deal and a big money-saver. There is a good grip on the Mag Base, and it can hold the drill in any place. So you can drill holes in as thick a material as you have bits and cutters for. The powerhead can move about 4 inches.
As a whole, I couldn’t be happier. In the $2500 and up range are bigger and better units. Under $1000, this is the one.
