I’ve had a small DeWalt reciprocating saw for a long time that I love because it’s so easy to use for small tasks, like cutting a 1-inch branch. But it won’t be able to cut a 4-inch branch. The 60V DCS389B can go through a 4-inch piece of wood in about a minute. There is no doubt that a chainsaw would be faster, but you wouldn’t use a chainsaw to cut roots or small trees below ground level. Because it has a battery, the saw is very heavy.
