You should have the DEWALT DW680K planer in your woodworking shop if you’re serious about your woodworking career. Even in the most demanding applications, the rugged 7 amp, 15,000 rpm motor delivers consistent, level results with little effort. With up to 3/32-inch of cut in a single pass and an increased number of passes permitted by the use of a convenient kick stand, this planer provides increased functionality and high quality. Powerful hand planer with a lot of torque. My only complaint (which appears to be a common one) is that there is no dust collector included with the kit (no bag or adaptor). According to older reviews, DeWalt used to manufacture one as an accessory, but it is no longer in production or available for purchase.
I was able to come up with a solution after a significant amount of searching. A dust collector adaptor for another DeWalt power hand planer (Part # 5140090-45) that works with this model is available for purchase for approximately $6. It is a 90-degree elbow that fits into the planer’s unusually shaped dust port and has a round port on the other end (see included photos). The outside circle has an outside diameter of 1.5″ and the inner circle has an inside diameter of 1″.
I hope this will be of assistance in resolving the dust collection issue with this unit.
