A drill attachment with a wrench and parts is included with the Dicfeos Double Head Metal Sheet Nibbler Cutter. It can cut up to 14 gauge steel, and it comes with circle-cutting tools.
It was mostly because I already had too many tools. I chose this nibbler instead of an electric metal shear because I already had too many tools. Probably, a man can never have too many tools. I hate when I buy an electric tool that I only use a few times a year, if that. Because they take up space, it’s bad to buy a tool that only does one thing. This is because I don’t want to spend extra money on a sheet metal shear just because it can go wrong.
This nibbler is cheap, small, and comes with a spare cutter. It also comes with two spare heads, one of which is on the opposite side of the tool, and I don’t know what it does. It doesn’t cut as quickly as an electric shear, but it does the job and isn’t too slow. It only bites off a small crescent-shaped piece at a time. One thing that makes this better than an electric shear is that you can make very small radius cuts with ease. For example, the corners of a square cut can be cut with ease.
Warning. Shaved wood can be hard to see on the floor because it’s so sharp. I have been pulling these little metal pieces out of the soles of my shoes. I have been poked a few times while kneeling on the floor. Because they can get stuck in you and hurt, be careful. A big plastic tub was the best way to keep the shavings from getting into my piece of wood when I was done cutting. Made clean-up a breeze, but somehow I still managed to get some pieces all over the place.
This won’t be able to eat through 16-gauge metal for very long. A very small lip on the cutting tool will likely get worn down or break inside the gearbox if you use it too much. That doesn’t make sense to me because this thing is made mostly of pot metals. I haven’t opened it up, but I can’t think of it being made of anything else.
After cutting three 12″x12″ squares out of some 20 gauge metal, the gearbox itself felt warm to the touch. It might be time to take that apart and pack it with grease. Anyway, it did the job for me. I’ll probably use this thing again 2 or 3 more times this year. I’m sure it will last long enough for me. The electric shears are better than this if you plan to do a lot of metal work. They can cut a lot faster and last a lot longer than this.
