Get a metal cutting bandsaw and you can use different TPI to cut metal or wood very nicely. Whatever metal cutting bandsaws lack in agility, they more than make up for in cutting power and versatility. If you are really strapped for cash, just get a small 4″ angle grinder for $50 and use metal cutting disks.
Try to cut thin stock, even 1/8″ thick with a 6 tpi blade and you’ll jam the saw and tear the teeth off the blade pretty easily. Yes, fewer teeth would work better on the thicker steel but then you would have to change blades to cut the thinner stuff or risk ruining the blade. Though not as good as the Lennox blades, the Milwalkee brand blades will outlast and out cut the HF junkers by quite a bit.
I bought a knife made from a bandsaw blade here off the forum a while back. Look for knives made of 15n20 steel, that is what commercial band saw blades are made from. A few years ago I was approached by one of my cousins saying that his son was interested in all aspects of forging and was looking for scrap metal, so I gave him a half dozen old 1x.045 blades. I have made a few knives out of old metal sawing bandsaw blades but they are not as nice as yours. If it is indeed 15n20, it can be oil quenched, if its not and is an air hardened steel, I guess the old blades will continue to go to recycle.
