Remember when power tools were strong. WEN’s 12-inch swing, variable speed drill press with a laser centering device is a great tool for your shop. It has a lot of power. With a lot of features that you’ll find in bigger, more industrial-style drills, this one isn’t. This bench-top drill press is made of cast iron and can drill through metal, wood, and other things. A drill can’t drill more than 5/8″ into 1″-thick cast iron. The variable speed feature lets you choose the speed (anywhere from 580-3200 RPM) that works best for your project. You just move a lever while you are working and change the speed as needed. Pulleys and belts don’t have to be changed. There aren’t any. Our design has a mechanical variable speed that lets us keep the same power and torque through the whole speed range. A digital readout powered by LEDs shows the speed of the car. The head, table, and base are all made of cast iron, which makes sure that the holes are the right size. It has a powerful induction motor that has ball bearings for a long life. It also has a smooth and balanced performance even when it’s going fast. The 5/8″ chuck with the MT2 spindle taper lets you use a wide range of bits. It also has chuck key storage, so you don’t have to look for it. The worktable is beveled 45° to the left and right so that you can always get the right angle every time. The base has holes in it that can be used to attach it to a bench or work stand. Slots on the table make it easy to attach clamps and vises for a strong hold. The X-pattern laser is able to focus on your drill points, saving you time and money. When you add optional accessories like mortising tools, drum sanders, circle cutters, and more, you can use this tool in a lot of different ways. Since 1951, WEN has been making cutting-edge power tools that are focused on value. These tools have important features that will help you finish and enjoy the project as much as the work. When you could drill with laser-like precision, it was a lot more fun. Remember WEN, please.

I looked at all of the reviews I could find, both on Amazon and on the internet. I also looked at all of the videos that were on YouTube. I thought this drill press would be good for me. I followed the directions, but when I tried to use it for the first time, it started making a horrible noise. This is how it should work. Set it aside for a few days to get back to it. I turned it on again to run under no load. I had to use a fire extinguisher to put out the fire caused by the motor in about two minutes. It’s true that every company has a “lemon” now and then, but my main problem is that I tried to contact WEN customer service several times and got no answer. Nothing. This is how it worked: Amazon customer service was great at getting the return set up. WEN customer service is completely non-existent. This makes it very clear to me whether or not I will ever buy a WEN product again. I can’t. To make sure they have customer service if something goes wrong.
