More info about elu 3380 biscuit joiner

When I took the 3380 out of its case today, the bottom edge of the fence was flush with the bottom edge of the guard cover. When the fence is in that position, the center mark on the guard cover is off center in the round window in the guard, as in Figure 5 in the manual. If I remove the side fence, rotate it 180 degrees, and insert it back into the jointer, the fence acts as an edge guide.

I despaired of ever getting a picture of the sidewinding Elu 2278, the tool with which Norm introduced us to biscuit joinery. My only hope was catching one on ebay some time, or getting a donated picture from a happy owner somewhere, which I did. The 2278, never made the transfer, although the 3379, a more conventional biscuit joiner is now the DW682.

The pivot is very precise and did not have the play that sliding machines had. They sold it with the idea that you could cut grooves with it by plunge cutting, then sliding it along to cut the groove. The manual should still be in with the brand new machine. 08-08-2013, 12:52 PM.I found my manual and scanned it, if anyone still needs it.
