“I have never used a fein grinder but I own a higher end 4.5” metabo grinder. It is by far better than any milwaukee, dewalt, or makita grinder i have used on vibration, power, and the tool less blade change is awesome.
Fein, Walter and Metabo grinders should last the rest of your life, less so in a production setting, regardless of how they feel. I own a 6″ Walter that I got for a song,, a 40 year old Walter/Metabo die grinder that will not die no matter how hard I try. Even though the Fein is the most expensive grinder out there I agree that it does not feel good in use.
I’ve currently got 5 grinders : a couple of old ‘Made in Japan’ Makitas in 125 and 230mm, they just will not die, very impressive!; Festool 125mm for running on the track; Metabo 125mm setup as a floor grinder, very powerful; and an 18v Metabo 125mm quick – they all have their place, but there is nothing balanced and precise in that list. Cordless Bosch grinders seem pretty nice, but Walter and Pferd haven’t signed up for this new x-lock development, and limiting yourself to that fitting also limits the possibilities for a cordless grinder, imho. The Makita is also grinding metal with flap discs, chasing cracks, grinding concrete, cutting bricks,and attacking paint and rust with the steel brush.
