I used two different drills, one cordless and one corded, to see which one worked best. I experimented with both hardwood and softwood.
Whatever arrangement was used, the bit only got half an inch into the log before becoming stuck. After failing to dislodge it with channel lock pliers after each unsuccessful attempt, I gave up and grabbed my axe for good measure. The axe sliced right through all of the wood I had placed in its path.
Possibly the 1/2hp motor (or whatever it is) shown in one of the photos would be sufficient to operate the bit, but I can’t imagine being able to resist all that torque by hand.
One of the reasons I gave it more than one star is because it is well-made, which is the only reason.
For the time being, I’ll stick with my axe.
